About Maker Marc
Maker Marc is a small workshop in Iowa focused on precision-machined fountain pens, dip pens, and writing accessories.
Each metal piece is machined from solid stock with an emphasis on proportion, balance, material, and finish. The goal is simple: to create writing instruments and desk pieces that feel substantial, refined, and built to last.
The path to making pens grew out of two long-standing interests: a fascination with well-made writing instruments and a drive to design and build things from the ground up. After years of planning and saving, that interest became a dedicated backyard workshop where new ideas could be developed from concept to finished product under one roof.
New designs often begin as 3D-printed prototypes to refine ergonomics, proportions, and fit before moving to metal. That process remains an important part of development, making it possible to iterate quickly and resolve details before machining begins.
Today, Maker Marc pieces are produced on a mill or lathe from solid metal stock. Materials include stainless steel, titanium, zirconium, brass, copper, aluminum, and select specialty materials, each chosen for its character, appearance, and feel in the hand.
In addition to pens, Maker Marc also produces pen rests, stands, and related accessories designed to complement a workspace with the same attention to function and form. A limited number of custom commissions are also accepted for customers looking for something more personal or distinctive.
Maker Marc also sells on Etsy (MakerMarcShop), where the shop has earned a 5.0 rating across more than 50 reviews.
Questions, collaborations, and custom inquiries are always welcome.
